MY MISSION
My mission is very simple, it is to preach the Gospel, to see souls saved, to see the backslidden reclaimed and to see lives changed. While that may sound easy to do, it is a very hard and difficult task to accomplish. It is difficult because according to Matthew 13:22" ...the care of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches, choke The Word, and he becometh unfruitful". The context of this passsage (Matthew 13:11-23) has a lot to say about how people receive The Word and what they do with it after they have heard it. This particular verse (Matthew 13:22) talks about a person receiving The Word among thorns. The one thing about thorns is that they all have what I will call sticking points, because every time you touch a thorn there is a sharp needle like point at the end of the brier that likes to stick and cut. These particular people, when they hear The Word they treat it like a thorn that has pricked or even cut them, and instead of letting God heal the wound, they go running to the world to heal it. The verse (Matthew 13:22) says that after hearing The Word, that the cares of world will take care of it, what I mean is that people hear The Word and after hearing they either choose to allow the healing of thorn prick or the refuse and run back to the world. They will run back to their gambling parlors, their bars, to their drugs and alcohol. Essentially, they are running away from God back to the world trying to hide themselves thinking that God can not see them. The second part of the verse also says the deceitfulness of riches, choke The Word, not only will they let the things of the world choke The Word, they also let the money interfere with what The Word is trying to do. The Bible says in I Timothy 6:10 "For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows". Just like the rich fool in Luke 16:19-31 who thought he did not have enough because of his self-ingulgence decided to pull down his barns and build bigger. He was putting his trust in the wealth that he had and not realizing what lied waiting for him in the future where all his riches would not be able to give him the comfort that he was accustomed. take for example the richman and Lazarus in Luke chapter sixteen verses ninteen through thrity-one. In this parable our Lord Jesus gives us an example of two different men that when they died were sent to two different places on account of where their heart lied. The rich man trusted in his wealth, as where Lazurus trusted in God and the end result we see was that the rich man was cast into hell where he was tormented and Lazurus rested in Abraham Bosom where he was comforted (Luke 16:24-25). The rich man was in so much torment that he begged Abraham to send Lazaruz back to testify to his brothers so that they would not come to this place of torment (Luke 16:28). Abraham goes on to say that they have Moses and the prophets and the rich mans nay, but if one went to the them from the dead, they will repent, and Abraham responds "if they hear not Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded, though one rose from the dead "(Luke 16:29-31). In a nut shell, Abraham is saying if they will not listen to the Prophets or in today's setting the preachers, evangelist or the soul-winner, they will not listen to one that had been risen from the dead even if that person (Jesus Christ) was standing in front of them. So I and all Christians alike have a tremendous task ahead of us as we proclaim "The Gospel".
